This article presents a Taylor collocation method for the approximate solution of high‐order linear Volterra‐Fredholm integrodifferential equations with linear functional arguments. This method is essentially based on the truncated Taylor series and its matrix representations with collocation points. In this article, up to tenth‐order finite difference schemes are proposed to solve the generalized Burgers–Huxley equation. The schemes based on high‐order differences are presented using Taylor series expansion. To establish the numerical solutions of the corresponding equation, the high‐order schemes in space and a fourth‐order Runge‐Kutta scheme in time have been combined. Numerical experiments have been conducted to demonstrate the high‐order accuracy of the current algorithms with relatively minimal computational effort. The results showed that use of the present approaches in the simulation is very applicable for the solution of the generalized Burgers–Huxley equation. The current results are also seen to be more accurate than some results given in the literature. The proposed algorithms are seen to be very good alternatives to existing approaches for such physical applications. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, a Hermite matrix method is presented to solve high‐order linear Fredholm integro‐differential equations with variable coefficients under the mixed conditions in terms of the Hermite polynomials. The proposed method converts the equation and its conditions to matrix equations, which correspond to a system of linear algebraic equations with unknown Hermite coefficients, by means of collocation points on a finite interval. Then, by solving the matrix equation, the Hermite coefficients and the polynomial approach are obtained. Also, examples that illustrate the pertinent features of the method are presented; the accuracy of the solutions and the error analysis are performed. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Segregated direct boundary‐domain integral equation (BDIE) systems associated with mixed, Dirichlet and Neumann boundary value problems (BVPs) for a scalar “Laplace” PDE with variable coefficient are formulated and analyzed for domains with interior cuts (cracks). In this article, an iterative method is proposed for solving nonlinear hyperbolic telegraph equation with an integral condition. Its exact solution is represented in the form of series in the reproducing kernel space. In the mean time, the n‐term approximation un(x, t) of the exact solution u(x, t) is obtained and is proved to converge to the exact solution. Moreover, the partial derivatives of un(x, t) are also convergent to the partial derivatives of u(x, t). Some numerical examples have been studied to demonstrate the accuracy of the present method. Results obtained by the method have been compared with the exact solution of each example and are found to be in good agreement with each other. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, we consider iterative operator‐splitting methods for nonlinear differential equations with bounded and unbounded operators. The main feature of the proposed idea is the embedding of Newton's method for solving the split parts of the nonlinear equation at each step. The convergence properties of such a mixed method are studied and demonstrated. We confirm with numerical applications the effectiveness of the proposed scheme in comparison with the standard operator‐splitting methods by providing improved results and convergence rates. This article presents a technique based on the hybrid Legendre tau‐finite difference method to solve the fourth order wave equation which arises in the elasto‐plastic‐microstructure models for longitudinal motion of an elasto‐plastic bar. 在内夹磁弹性单斜地层中,下界面不规则变化时,研究水平偏振剪切波的传播,该地层夹在两个半无限磁弹性单斜介质之间,得到了闭式的色散方程.不计磁场及介质界面的不规则性,该色散方程与三层介质中经典方程相一致.图示了磁场和界面不规则深度对相速度的影响.  相似文献
